More than 40% of all imports arriving in the USA come through the Californian ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, with volumes rising significantly every year. To accommodate this volume and growth, a new, 20-mile rail cargo expressway was required to connect the ports with the transcontinental rail network east of downtown LA.
AECOM provided extensive program management services for this technically complex project, which ultimately delivered significant benefits to the national and regional economies.
