Without infrastructure, it’s hard for developing countries to achieve economic progress. But the very countries that need infrastructure investment are frequently those that are least able to afford it.
To bridge this gap, organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank finance development programs aimed at providing the poorest people in the world with the necessities of life, such as fresh drinking water and medical facilities.
Our International Development teams work under contract to global humanitarian bodies, taking our infrastructure and economic development expertise to areas such the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe.
Infrastructure Development Studies
China
Working with the Asian Development Bank, AECOM is preparing detailed infrastructure development studies for three Chinese provinces – Hebei, Liaoning, and Shanxi.
These studies will help the Chinese government invest in projects to facilitate economic development, expand utility services, enhance environmental protection, support employment generation and raise household income levels.
Elements covered under the studies include water supply, wastewater treatment, transportation, energy and education.
